"Dennoch vermochte ich es nicht, mich auf den merkwürdigen Stil Petrosjans einzustellen"- Mikhail Botvinnik.

Botvinnik's last titlematch, against the 18 years younger Tigran Petrosian. Until the 15th game the contenders the score was in balance with two wins each and ten draws, however reaching this had cost Botvinnik much more energy than Petrosian, as Anatoly Kaprov observs in the foreword. Then, Petrosian won the 15th game in splendid positional style and collected two more wins to finish at 12,5-9,5 and gaining the worldtitle.

All the games are excellently annotated by Botvinnik himself (seven games) and other top GMs like Kasparov, Flohr and Akopian (five games).

In addition one can find in this remarkable book:
- an account by Petrosian on the match;
- an account by Botvinnik on why he lost the match;
- eight games. not annotated, from the training match Botviinik-Furman in 1963;
- Botvinnik's (last) notebook with opening finds

This book is a translation from a 2003 Russian edition. There is no English edition.
